Found a Penny and a Pencil and got hit on the head by a Falling Acorn. With a pencil in your hand you can tell about the promise land where all good runners wish to go Place a penny in the plate and you will not need to wait for the blessing for your soul That is all our creator had planned for my Morning Run. gitagoing

Slipped on my Mystery Mountain T- shirt, Mountain Mist gloves, Sweet Water hat, Bill Rogers jacket; grabbed my Georgia Running cane and opened the door early for my Morning Run. Got to see a bright sunrise. ;D almost felt like a runner of before the bright sun rise brought misty to my eyes but not quite like thru the fog at Hinson Lake or the North Shore 24 You can use the Georgia Running cane for doggies or bats. If you want one or more, you can get one at Kennesaw Mountain while they clear the cane field from the woods near Kolb Farm on the trail. gitagoing

The Morning Run was on part of my classic Leadville training course. Beginning at Burnt Hickory, go toward Cheatham Hill and go left on the East goat trail back toward Pigeon Hill. Take the left off the East Trail and proceed over Pigeon Hill, Little Kennesaw and Big Kennesaw to the visitor's center, then return (10ish miles). Repeat up to five times to prepare for the west mountain runs. Add a medical mask and a scarf over the mouth and nose to similuate the altitude out west. This run features a series of hills increasing in intensity until you top Big Kennesaw on the return, lot of fun for jelly legs. If you wonder why you are often Schick'ed, Rich does this section weekly, plus the rest of the trails. gitagoing

Donned my Strolling Jim shirt, Dink Fleet Feet shoes, Western States windbreaker and Death Valley cap as a security blanket to give me courage and did the rest of my Leadville simulated training course for my morning run. Ran from Burnt Hickory to Kolb farm and back via the West Goat trail at Kennesaw Mountain(12ish). The leaves were very soft and the breeze cooling. Got a Georgia running cane from Doug who is clearing the cane field. If you wish to help him, he will be there first Wednesday in December. If you get a running cane it should be about 4-5 feet in length. Cut above the top joint and below the bottom joint to keep the cane sealed. A couple of Kenyans flew by me and reminded me that maybe I wasn't running, just covering the miles. Oh well, seemed like running to me. I pulled my death valley hat lower for more security. ;D gitagoing

Did a mini rumble at Red Top for my Morning Run. Ran the Homestead Trail, the green loop and part of the Sweetgum to the lodge from the visitors center (11kmish). One of the pretty trail runs near here with Lake Allatoona as a scenic view. Saw a Georgia "Rain" Deer sipping Gin, getting that nose ready for the season. OOPs, maybe that was me. ;D This run is good practice for the full rumble in February. Jaydene expects to see you prepared to race in your new GUTS GEAR. Be sure to turn left at the Homestead Loop sign for the steep way and get the full "HILL" effect. Get that feel "UP" feeling all day. gitagoing

WOW - What a great Morning Runabout, 2:09 after in the doldrums for a month. What was better, the run was a reminder of 60 years ago on the FARM. Our FARM was 15 miles from town and MOM and DAD left me home alone most of the time so they could feed us. Yup I used to go to town and get home before they came home, 30 miles. Little did I know I was doing Ultras barefooted at 8 years old. Took all day, but not much to do but play with the critters in 1951. This Morning Run was just like that 60 years ago venture. A sunny start and rain showers before I got home. Found a stuffed turtle, 11 cents, a sharp knife, Chapstick, two NERD tops, a police model car, five used lottery tickets and three unused beers-WOW. At 14 years, they gave me last rites because of gangreen, but you never know what life has instore for you. The Morning Run really felt like being a kid again. Good start to 2012. The stuffed turtle, police car and Nerd candy tops go to my collection of toys over my computer desk. Reminders of the fun of running out there. Maybe I'll tell the stories about them and my running pals one day. The knife I'll take to the lake to use as a fish cleaning. Johnny Buice knows it's best to not take undressed fish home to MAMMA. Well once the cap is off the chapstick it could touch good or bad lips, so Robbie says it should be trashed. You never know where their lips have been. I perfer to think it might have been Cher or Marylin. The 11 cents are blessing, for the future once placed in the church plate. Can't away 2012. Well MOM and DAD are gone like the FARM, but the Memories remain. We didn't actually own the FARM, DAD something about just working it. Please have a safe and happy 2012. Hope I see you on a runabout. You never know what blessing away you. gitagoing

Chilly Doggie for the morning run. OH, slow hurting 24 deg start into the wind. Almost went home. Reminder of the Chicago 4AM runs. Did the Kolb Farm loop. Richcheese has been busy with the trail crews. TY Rich. Don't have to trip there every time. One of my running mentors said to save a little for tomorrow, but I've changed that now. New strategy is to pull one from tomorrow into today. So, I have three extra miles for the week. MT. Paran was my first running coaching experience. We trained at Kennesaw Mountain. Thanks to Excel Christian school we now have mile markers for their team. I used the 4.5M to 5M blue course markers for the extra mile today. In the old days mile markers were by time. Excel is close to the old markers. ???Chris asked about a yearly running goal. That is a great idea, so here is mine. Six ultras for the year. Rob Apple just finished his 600th Ultra, a great accomplishment. Congratulations Rob. Rob is actually very fast, when he wishes. He is such a great guy and so humble. Ray K, I think has more ultras thou. I know Ray, Eileen, Steve, Doyle used to train one or two Ultras a week. Even Richard Westbrook still does I think. Well it's not official, but I bet my DINK shoes, someone has 2000-3000 ultras. 352 weeks times 1 ultra times 20 years = more than 6000. Git hopes you Excel at your ultra events, but they should be a reflection of your training. gitagoing

:)Ventured out for some LSD on my Strollin' Jim course on this Spring-like day in Winter. The watch says 3:39:16, would translate into about 17 beach miles. Found a BIC, 15 cents and a metal charm. Met Natasha and Vladimer, two folks spreading the word for the Kindom Hall. Gave them 15 minutes of running wisdom and the 15 cents for the plate. Looking for those 15 blessings. The metal charm says Alchemy 2011/Mutagensis, looks like it is a mutate or die theme. Guess that's my sign, more miles. Sometimes good running knowledge comes from top runners. Big Richard gave me some advice for a long run, commit to the first half out and you have to return to the start for the full distance. Good advice to achieve double digits. Another devoted servant to running sent me the book Born To Run. Guess he knows the truth. Here is Chris running blog, if ya are intersted, my son: creaturelyfascination.blogspot.com/ gitagoing

After such cool, windy and Esky weather this horse finally getting out for a morning run found himself barely able to peer over the brome grass!
