Hi everyone,
This may be sort of an unusual post but I promised my mom I would get the word out. She has done some volunteer down at the Union Mission in downtown ATL recently and while speaking with one of the men there she told him about some of my running "adventures". He was intrigued and told her he thought some of the men there might be interested in having someone get a running program started. I'd love to get involved myself but between 2 active kids/2-dogs, work, my own volunteer committments, not to mention my own training/racing, I simply don't have any free time.
So, if anyone is interested in contacting these folks and seeing where it takes you/them please let me know and I can get you the specifics...I'm sure it would be rewarding to anyone involved!
Thanks for the consideration, Charles

I'm definitely interested and have always wished someone would start a BOMF group here. I'm checking out the website.

Union Mission has been a ready, active hand of help to the needy of West Virginia. Our mission is "helping hurting people in Jesus' name," and as such, we unabashedly share the gospel of Jesus Christ even as we minister to the physical needs of the downtrodden. We have seen God work in amazing ways through our various ministries to improve lives and draw people closer to Him. All over our state, the Union Mission has gained a reputation of being there for those who have nowhere to turn. Union Mission's scope of ministry is wide but largely consolidated in five established areas: * Brookside Family Life Center - A residential program for single women with children as well as single mothers-to-be * Union Mission Crossroads - Our downtown rescue shelter facility for men * Union Mission: Foundations - Our discipleship program for men committed to addiction recovery. * Union Mission Family Services - Offering food, clothing, and counseling to struggling families in 17 West Virginia counties * Union Mission Outreach - Satisfying physical and spiritual hunger in 46 West Virginia counties * Union Mission Thrift Store - Turning bargains into blessings thanks running gear
