Tony, I am so glad you are okay, and I wish the best for you. I'm up in the area 4 days a week for work, so please let me know if there is anything you need in the coming weeks. I was running up there this weekend, and it still frusterates me every time I feel like its a near-obstacle course in some of the crosswalks. I've actually been beeped at before and yelled at to "Get out of the road" at the one on Dallas Hwy so I know how ridiculous it can be! Regardless, I'll certainly be more careful in the future, regardless of the ignorance of any careless drivers, and bottom line is I'm just thankful that you survived without any severe injuries! (From experiance, I know that multiple broken bones are just no fun for runners ... even if mine were a result of hitting an inanimate object!) Best, -Paula

More updates from Allison... This may be another one for the forum because based on my inbox, many inquiring, worried minds want to know how Tony's doing. Well, yesterday I got pretty worried about him because he decided he wanted to go with me to get coffee then go to church. I told him it was a bad idea because he could barely stay upright for 10 minutes without getting exhausted, but he was insistent. He kept dozing off while getting dressed and when he was awake, he was saying odd things indicating that he did not know what day or time it was. He told me that his brother had been there that morning (he was there the previous afternoon) and asked me where his sister was (she had left about 15 hours before). We left the house and made it about 2 miles before Tony was so nauseated he had me pull over so he could throw up. He asked to be taken home. I paged the on-call doctor from the family practice we see, and she said I should take him back to the ER. Because he was conscious and not brought in by ambulance, he was relatively low priority at Kennestone. We waited an hour to get a room, then 3 hours to see a doctor. A CT Scan was ordered and anti-nausea medicine was prescribed, but after 6 hours, we were told that he was simply dealing with a bad concussion (not to mention the heavy medication, which probably didn't help with his level of awareness). This morning, he visited his primary care doc, and she gave him more pain medication and a referral to a physical therapist who he should see later this week. He felt a little better after that, so we stopped by Pct 1 to pick up the accident report. The car was a '95 Toyota Tercel (Tony made me swear that I would say it was a Rav 4), and I actually do need someone's help with tracking down the car at the impound lot so pics can be taken ASAP. We'll need them for legal reasons and I just don't have the time. We know where it is, but I'm looking for a good photographer/wanna-be P.I. Overall, Tony's doing ok. He's still in pain and he experiences dizziness and nausea when he gets up. He has pretty low energy and he's sleeping a lot. All things considered, he's amazingly well. Thanks again for all your concern! He hopes to see you all out on the trails soon, but doctor's orders are that he CANNOT run Oak Mtn. (oh well...) Allison

Best wishes on the continued recovery!
I had my own near miss this weekend, literally have to dive into a neighbor's yard to avoid being hit by a car, and even then the damn car jumped the curb and ran into the neighbor's yard just a few feet from me.

Tony,
I'm sorry to hear that some Oak Mtn challenger thought you were too much competition for him!
But seriously, thinking of you and yours.

I'm thinking we need a new name for slwrunner. Here are a few suggestions to get the brain storming started ... Tony Timex - he takes a lickin' and keeps on tickin' ! Teflon Tony - Cars hit him, but they slide right off. Tony "Vaulting Pole" Gonzalez - maybe "VP" for short - because he is "pole" thin and, like a vaulting pole, he bends but doesn't break. Tony "the Tiger" Gonzalez - because like a big cat, he apparently has nine lives! I am glad to hear that Tony is doing better! The only appropriate new name that I can think of is O'Possum (we are close to St. Patrick's day, right?)

I don't know....Slwrunner might still be appropriate....had he run a little faster he might have made it!!
Frogger might fit too!

Tony, I don't think I've met you - but I wish you well. Hope you are back out on the trail and away from the roads soon. You'd think people in that area would slow the hell down and take a good look around as they drive. It is fortunate you weren't left worse off. Get well soon.
